New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College swim team concluded their regular season on Monday night at the team's annual Senior Night. The Hawks who inished as the regular season CUNYAC runner-up, honored graduating seniors in
Sera Aktas,
Germayne Chau, and
Kiana Guarino. Despite a spirited effort, the Hawks were ultimately edged out by Baruch, 49-46.
The evening began with an electrifying performance in the 200-yard medley relay, where the Hawks' A-team, featuring both Guarino and Chau, secured a victory with a time of 2:03.72. The two seniors, joined by teammates Lian Winter and Kateryna Titarenko, showcased excellent teamwork in the event, setting the tone for the meet.
Individually, Guarino dominated the 200-yard individual medley, finishing first with a time of 2:21.26, narrowly edging out her senior teammate Chau, who placed second with an impressive 2:21.42. Guarino also delivered a strong showing in the 100-yard breaststroke, taking second place with a time of 1:14.83.
Chau capped off her Senior Night with a stellar victory in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:02.82, solidifying her position as one of the conference's top backstroke specialists.
Other notable performances came from junior Lian Winter, who placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:09.26, and sophomore Hailey-Madison Quiller, who grabbed second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:28.64) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:13.40). Sophomore Gwendolyn Posner added to the Hawks' scoring efforts with a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 6:45.70.
The Hawks' next meet is set for the 2024-25 CUNYAC Championships, to be held on Jan. 31 through Feb. 2.
