New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's swim team returned to the pool for the first time this calander year as they traveled to John Jay to compete in a non-conference tri-meet against the Bloodhounds and USMMA. The Hawks grabbed a 64-50 win over John Jay, but fell 100-21 against the Merchant Marine Mariners on Tuesday evening.
Lian Winter led the Hawks, setting the pace with a commanding with in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:10.07 for the gold. She also played a crucial role in the team's first place 400-yard freestyle relay, along with
Gwendolyn Posner, Hailey Quiller and
Parvinabonu Makhmadalieva.
Nayesha Krishna was also instrumental to the Purple and Gold as she claimed second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:54.7.
Mia Chang show cased her versatility, securing third place in the 50-yard free (28.77) and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:15.61). Makhmadalieva rounded out top-three finishes for the Hawks with a third place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, with a time of 13:38.58.
Katerna Titarenko was also a key contributor for Hunter, showing strong performances in the breaststroke and freestyle events, finishing fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:30.95) and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.30).
