New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College swim team grabbed a decisive 75-17 victory over conference opponent, Brooklyn College, in the North Pool on Thursday evening.
Hunter opened strong with a commanding win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Germayne Chau, Parvinabonu Makhmadalieva, Lian Winter, and Kateryna Titarenko clocked in at 2:05.33 to secure first place and set the tone for the meet. Chau later claimed victories in the 200-yard IM (2:24.76), and the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.91).
In distance events, Gwendolyn Posner showcased endurance and consistency, winning the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 14:07.60. She later contributed to a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay alongside teammates Makhmadalieva, Anastasiia Lyshyk, and Hailey Quiller, clocking a winning time of 2:00.57.
Hunter's sprinters also made their mark. Quiller dominated the 50-yard freestyle in 28.56 seconds and went on to claim the 100-yard butterfly title at 1:14.36. Titarenko delivered a standout swim in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing first with a time of 1:04.61.
Makhmadalieva continued her impressive form by taking the 200-yard freestyle in 2:25.87, while Mia Chang secured a victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:38.16, emphasizing Hunter's depth across all disciplines.
Hunter wrapped up the meet with a solid showing in the 100-yard breaststroke, where Nayesha Krishna and Kiara Walsh finished second and third, respectively.Â
The Hawks return to the pool on January 13 for another conference meet against Baruch College, and the team's final home meet of the season at 6:00 p.m. in the North Pool.Â
