UNION, N.J.- The Hunter College women's swim team opened up its season in a dual meet at Kean University, falling 193-59.
Despite the loss, the Hawks' freshmen showed promise for the upcoming season, led by
Grace Valette who grabbed Hunter's only silver medals of the day. Valette clocked in at 2:22.65 in the 200-yard backstroke placing second, as well as in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.18. Fellow rookie,
Lily Bradshaw also impressed in her first collegiate meet, placing third in the 50-yard freestyle race with a time of 27:42.
In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Gwendolyn Posner placed third for the Hawks, with her time of 1:29.08, while
Anastasiia Lyshyk also took home a bronze in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:14.91. Also taking home a podium finish for the Hawks was
Lian Winter, in 1:09.64 in the 100-yard butterfly, while Parvinabonu Mahkmadalieva closed out scoring for the Hawks in the 200-yard IM, with her time of 2:43.36.
The Hawks return to the pool tomorrow, against College of Staten Island and Pace University.
