THROGGS NECK, N.Y. — The Hunter College women's swim team earned a dominant road win over SUNY Maritime on Wednesday evening, taking first place in 10 of the meet's 11 events to secure a 132-52 victory.
Mia Chang and Lian Winter led the Hawks, each claiming two individual gold medals and contributing to a first-place relay. Freshman Annie Huang also delivered her strongest meet of the season, earning both a first- and second-place finish.
Hunter opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as Grace Valette, Parvinabonu Makhmadalieva, Winter, and Gwendolyn Posner combined for a time of 2:07.00. In the longest race of the day, M. Chang earned her first individual win, touching in 12:58.46, followed by Molly Nettles in 13:30.29, in the 1,000-yard free..
Posner led the 200-freestyle with a winning time of 2:26.98, while rookie Denisse Rojas took second in 2:39.40. Huang then broke the 30-second mark in the 50-yard freestyle, taking gold in 29.92, followed by Imani Chisolm at 32:69.0. Winter secured her first individual win in the 100-yard individual medley, clocking in at 1:09.0. M. Chang added her second gold in the 100-yard butterfly (1:14.46), with Huang taking silver in 1:15.01.
Winter's second win came in the 100-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:03.5, followed by Anastasiia Lyshyk in 1:10.53.
Valette continued her strong season with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.69), while Nettles closed out the individual events by winning the 500-yard freestyle in 6:32.36. The Hawks capped the meet with another relay win, as Valette, M. Chang, Nettles, and Rojas recorded a time of 1:42.56 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Hunter returns to the pool on Dec. 5 for the annual Homecoming celebration, hosting Purchase College in the North Pool at 6 p.m.
