BOX SCORE NEW YORK- The Hunter College men's volleyball team extended its winning streak to six following a 3-0 conference win against Lehman in the Sportsplex on Thursday night.
The Hawks (9-6, 5-0 CUNYAC) took the match in a decisive straight-set victory (25-21, 25-12, 25-21) to remain undefeated in league play as the Lightening fell to 3-4 in conference competition and 11-4 overall. .
Leading the charge for Hunter was Wyatt Kotuk, with a near-perfect performance, tallying eight kills on nine attempts for a staggering .889 hitting percentage, the best mark of the match. Kyle Foley was just as impactful, notching eight kills while hitting .583 for the Hawks.
Setter Felipe Delgado orchestrated the attack, dishing out a match-high 24 assists while also adding two service aces, five digs, and a pair of block assists. His ability to spread the ball allowed the Hawks to maintain an efficient offense, finishing the match with a .364 team hitting percentage.
After a competitive first set, the Purple and Gold dominated the second frame behind the strong play of Annes Deljanin, who finished the night with seven kills and three block assists. Ahmed Mohamed was a difference-maker at the service line, racking up a game-high six aces, while adding seven kills and one block assist.
The Hawks' defensive presence was felt throughout the match, with Crisostomo Ibarra and Mohamed contributing key digs, while Jon Domingo and Brandon Yeh provided additional depth at the net. Domingo hit .400 with two kills on five attempts, while Yeh made the most of his opportunity, recording one kill on his lone attempt.
Hunter took control of the third set with a steady offensive push, as Foley, Kotuk, and Deljanin continued to find openings in the Lightening's defense. Despite a late push from the visitors, the Hawks maintained their composure, closing out the match with a 25-21 final-set victory.
The Hawks return to the court on March 8 for the Springfield Tri-match. The squad starts the day with a 2:15 pm match against Endicott College, followed by hosting Springfield College at 4:30 p.m.
