PURCHASE, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's cross country team opened its 2025 season at the Purchase College Invitational on Saturday.
The Hawks finished fifth out of 15 total teams, led by senior Mateo Penafiel who placed seventh overall with a time of 20:29.1. Brian Arias, impressed in his first collegiate cross country meet, placing 14th out of 149 total finishers, with a time of 21:08.1 in the men's 6k.
Senior, Hengzhi Zhu was the next best finisher for the Hawks, crossing the tape in 23:41.4, followed by freshman Jack Treacher with a time of 23:48.7. Also making his collegiate debut was Robert Liang Xu, who clocked in at 25:33.3. Benjamin Landheim rounded out finishers for the Hawks, with a time of 25:42.7.
Hunter returns to the course on Sept. 14 at the Mount Saint Mary College Invitational in Newburgh, N.Y.
