NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hunter College swim team celebrated its annual Senior Night with a 56-39 victory over Baruch on Wednesday evening. Prior to the meet, the Hawks honored their graduating class of Cara Chang, Mia Chang, Gwendolyn Posner, Lian Winter, Kateryna Titarenko, Grace Valette, and Nayesha Krishna.
Hunter collected five individual first-place finishes and one relay victory on the night, while also adding six second-place finishes in the win.
Grace Valette continued to anchor the Hunter lineup, earning three individual victories with strong performances across multiple events. The Colorado native opened the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.68, followed by Cara Chang, who finished second in 2:12.76. Valette later dipped under one minute in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 57.08, while Chang secured another runner-up finish at 1:00.14. Valette also showcased her versatility in the 500-yard freestyle, claiming first place in the second-longest race of the day with a time of 5:50.30.
Parvinabonu Makhmadalieva delivered a pair of crucial first-place finishes for the Hawks, punctuated by a breakout performance in the 1,000-yard freestyle. The junior shaved more than 30 seconds off her previous best time to win the event in 13:06.99. Makhmadalieva followed with another emphatic victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:23.71, as Krishna powered home a second-place finish at 1:26.38. The one-two finish sealed the team win for Hunter, igniting celebration on the pool deck
Winter added a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:35.04. She later teamed up with Hailey-Madison Quiller, Annie Huang, and Lily Bradshaw to secure a first-place finish for the Purple and Gold in the 200-yard freestyle relay, posting a combined time of 1:52.07.
Bradshaw also collected a silver medal in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 1:10.55.
The Hawks return to the pool on Saturday as they travel to Sarah Lawrence for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
