NEW YORK, N.Y. - Hunter College men's indoor track and field turned in a confident and competitive performance Friday at the Ramapo College Invitational at the Armory Track and Field Center, posting several standout efforts against a deep field while making a strong statement within City University of New York Athletic Conference standings.
Brian Arias led the way for the Hawks in the mile, clocking a 4:49.48 to finish 23rd overall and claim the top spot in current CUNYAC standings. Arias set the tone early, with teammates
Mateo Penafiel and
Leonardo Kaplan close behind, finishing 28th and 32nd, respectively, as Hunter showcased its depth in the distance events.
The Hawks also delivered a solid performance in the 4x400m relay, as
Jack Treacher,
Ethan Sarante, Kaplan and
Benjamin Landheim posted a combined time of 3:51:91, closing the meet with momentum on the track.
In the field,
Solomon Kumi continued his strong indoor campaign for the Purple and Gold with a 12.31m mark in the triple jump, the top mark among CUNYAC athletes this season. Kumi added another quality result in the long jump, recording a mark of 12.31m, and also a conference best.
Dylan Asuncion showcased Hunter's depth in the field, posting a leap of 11.85m in the triple jump, good for second among conference competitors.
Hunter will look to carry its momentum forward as it returns to the Armory for the Scarlet Knight Opener on Feb. 6.
