NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's indoor track and field team placed second at the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) championship meet Sunday at The Armory.

The Hawks totaled 114 points to secure the runner-up spot, finishing behind Medgar Evers (169 points). The City College of New York placed third with 103 points, followed by Lehman (77) and York (10).

Hunter was powered by multiple individual champions and strong relay performances. Brian Arias claimed gold in the men's mile, crossing the finish line in 4:52.61, while Hengzhi Zhu secured silver in 5:01.84. Arias added another podium finish in the 3000m, placing second in 10:18.56. Mateo Penafiel captured first in the 3000m with a winning time of 10:17.81.

Benjamin Landheim earned silver in the 400m with a time of 52.33 and added a third-place finish in the 60H in 10.74. Jack Treacher contributed a third-place showing in the 800m, clocking 2:13.62.

In the relays, Hunter's distance medley relay team of Zhu, Leonardo Kaplan, Treacher and Robert Liang-Xu claimed gold with a combined time of 11:59.1. The 4x400m relay team of Landheim, Kaplan, Treacher and Ethan Sarante placed third in 3:53.15.

Dylan Asuncion added key points in the field events, earning silver in both the long jump (5.74m) and triple jump (12.22m).

Hunter returns to the track for the final meet of the indoor season on March 6 and 7 at the AARTFC Indoor Championship at the Armory.
