FLUSHING, N.Y.- Eddy Kang of the Hunter College men's volleyball team opened the year on a high note, earning Rookie of the Week accolades as announced by the league office on Monday.

In his collegiate debut, Kang made an immediate impact during the team's 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-12) season opener at Purchase College. The rookie posted six kills with a .462 hitting percentage this week in addition to a pair of assists and a block assist.

The Hawks return to the court for their home opener on Jan. 27 as they host non-conference opponent, New York University in the Sportsplex. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
