BRONX, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's swim team opened up day one of the City University of New York Athletic Conference Championships today, taking an early 12 point lead.
Grace Valette led the Hawks, as she placed first in the 500yd freestyle with a time of 5:29.00. Also scoring in the event was Mia Chang (6:02.34), Molly Nettles (6:35.53), and Gwendolyn Posner (7:00.32).
In the 200yd IM, Parvinabonu Makhmadalieva took home third, clocking in at 2:34.00. Anastasiia Lyshyk, and Nayesha Krishna also scored in the event with respective times of 2:47.20, and 2:54.63.
Lily Bradshaw started the meet off on a high note, grabbing a silver medal in the 50yd freestyle, touching the wall in 26:34. Bradshaw was also a part of two second place relay teams for Hunter.Â
She teamed up with Lian Winter, Valette, and Cara Chang in the 200yd freestyle relay, with a combined time of 1:43.19. Later on, Valette and Bradshaw in tandem with M. Chang and Hailey-Madison Quiller, took home another silver in the 400yd medley relay, with a team time of 4:29.76.
Quiller put up additional points for the Hawks in the 50yd freestyle, taking sixth with her time of 27.0, followed by freshmen Annie Huang (28.25), and Imani Chisolm (30.48), who also added to the Hawks' point tally.Â
The Hawks return to the APEX tomorrow for day two of the championship meet, where they look to claim their sixth straight title.Â
