Salem, VA – Sophomore outfielder
Stephanie Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) hit a two RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it wouldn't be enough to get things rolling for the Hawks who drop a 6-2 decision to North Carolina Wesleyan College on the final day of the Ferrum Tournament in Salem, VA.
Junior second baseman
Catherine Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) and freshman short stop
Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) each picked up a hit and a run in three at-bats. Senior right-hander
Allyshia West (Ontario, Canada/West Hills Secondary) struck out seven batters in seven innings of action, but also gave up five earned runs in defeat.
In their second a final game of the tournament, the Hawks were shutout by Eastern Mennonite University, 12-0 with junior right-hander
Nicole Grilli (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) on the mound for four innings.
Hunter opens up at home on Tuesday, March 18 when they host the Rangers of Drew University for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader at Ammirati Field in Coleman Park, located in the Lower East Side of New York City.
