New York, NY – Junior first baseman
Jennifer Damroth (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) hit a two-run double in the bottom of the third to give Hunter a 5-0 lead that would eventually turn into a 5-1 victory in the second game of a softball double header with Drew University on a cold spring day at Ammirati Field in the Lower East Side section of New York City.
After suffering a tough loss in the first game to the Rangers, 15-1, the Hawk opened up the same game with a quick 1-0 lead after one inning. As darkness began to creep in, they were just able to finish the fifth inning before the umpires called the game.
Senior right-hander
Allyshia West (Ontario, Canada/West Hills Secondary) picked up the win in the second game, striking out four batters and giving up one earned run to improve to 2-1 on the year.
The Hawks are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, when they hit the road to face Muhlenberg for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader, weather pending.
