Frank Dominates Lightning, Hits Two Homers Including a Grand Slam

New York, NY – Sophomore catcher Jacqueline Frank (Broad Channel, NY/Stella Maris) hit her first career grand slam, sending a shot over the left field fence in the bottom of the third, her second in the game, to give the Hawks a 13-1 victory in the second game of a CUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Ammirati Field on the Lower East Side of New York City. The Hawks shut Lehman out in the first game 15-0.

Frank helped give the Hawks an early advantage, hitting a two RBI home run in the bottom of a first inning to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead. Her grand slam in the third inning put Hunter ahead 13-1. She finished the game 2-for-3 with six runs batted in and three runs scored.

In the first game of the day, the Hawks opened up the first inning by scoring seven runs and then tacked on eight more in the bottom of the third. Junior first baseman Jennifer Damroth (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) broke out for two hits in two plate appearances that resulted in three RBI's and two runs scored.

Junior second baseman Catherine Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) also had a nice first game from the plate, hitting 2-for-3 with three batted in and two runs scored.

Senior right-hander Allyshia West (Owen Sound, ON/West Hills Secondary) gets the victory in the firrt game, strking out three batters and not allowing a hit or run in two innings of action;
Junior right-hander Nicole Grilli (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) picked up the win in the second game, giving up four this, one run and striking out three batters.

The Hawks return to action on Wednesday, April 2 when they travel to Brooklyn, NY to face Medgar Evers College for a 4:00 p.m. CUNYAC doubleheader.
