Hawks Sweep Cabrini On the Road, 5-2/10-4

Radnor, PA – Junior Jennifer Damroth (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) hit a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs batted in during a 10-4 rout of Cabrini College in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader of softball Wednesday evening at Cabrini's Softball Field in Radnor PA. The Hawks also won the first game to complete the sweep, 5-2.

After six scoreless innings, Hunter broke the game open in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs and then senior right-hander Allyshia West (Owen Sound, ON/West Hills Secondary) closed out the game in the bottom half of the inning, allowing just one earned run to pick up the 5-2 victory. Junior pitcher Rachel Davis (Waterford Works, NJ/Overbrook Regional) went seven innings with six strikeouts and gave up three earned runs in defeat, West finished with seven strikeouts for the Hawks.

In the second game, the Hawks built up an eight run lead before Cabrini got onto the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. Junior right-hander Nicole Grilli (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) was on the mound for five innings, striking out four batters and giving up four earned runs before West came in for the final two innings that included two strikeouts and one earned run.

From the plate, senior outfielder Priscilla Gonzalez-Alices (Brooklyn, NY/Edward R. Murrow) finished two for three with two runs batted in, while freshman third baseman Danielle Maresca (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) added two RBI's on two hits in five at bats.

The Hawks are now even at 11-11 on the year and are set to return to action on Sunday, April 13 when they travel to Mahwah, NJ to face Ramapo College for doubleheader. This game is rescheduled from last Sunday.
