New York, NY – The Hunter men's fencing team had a strong showing at foil and epee, but it would be enough as the Black Knights of Army earn a 17-10 victory Friday night in the B-4 Gymnasium of the Hunter Sportsplex.
The foil team pulled out a small margin victory, led by junior
Jose Samora, Jr. who was 3-0 on the day, while junior
Marcus Ng earned two wins. At epee, sophomore
Nial Welch won all three of his bouts en route to a 5-4 team win and tied the overall match score at 9. However, the Hawks young sabre squad was shutout 9-0 to give West Point the 18-9 overall win.
This was the team's final match until January, when they are scheduled to compete in the Army Invitational on January 17 in West Point, NY.
