Hunter Continues Season at MACFA B Round Robin

HOBOKEN, N.J. — The Hunter College men's fencing team continued its season Sunday at the MACFA B Group B Round Robin hosted by Stevens Tech.

The Hawks competed in four dual meets and finished 1–3 on the day. Hunter suffered losses to NJIT and Stevens, 24–3, and dropped a competitive dual against Army, 16–11. In a tightly contested showdown, the Hawks secured their lone victory by edging Yeshiva, 14–13.

Junior David Xing delivered a standout performance in foil, winning 10 of his 12 bouts and accounting for nearly one-third of Hunter's total bout victories.

Hunter's épée trio of Melvin Velasquez, Steven Zhang and Steve Zhu turned in a balanced effort. Velasquez and Zhang each recorded four bout wins, while Zhu added five victories.

The Hawks will return to Hoboken next Sunday, Feb. 15, to continue in the MACFA B vs. C round robin.
