POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Hunter College men's fencing team continued its season this past weekend at the Vassar Invitational, traveling to face strong regional competition.
Team Results
The Hawks fenced Cornell, Sacred Heart University, Drew, Vassar, Vassar B, Wagner, Yale and Yeshiva. Hunter defeated Yeshiva (19-8) and Vassar B (14-13), demonstrating depth and competitiveness across weapons. Top performers Junior

Squad Highlights
- The foil squad earned decisive 9–0 victories over Yeshiva and Vassar B, reinforcing their strength and cohesion at the start of the season.
- The épée squad, led by Junior Steve Zhu, delivered competitive results, defeating Yeshiva 6-3 and Vassar B 5-4, with Zhu and his teammates setting the tone for consistent performance.
- The sabre squad, new and enthusiastic, celebrated individual breakthrough. Julio Salazer and Mike Scaneiro notched this first collegiate wins.
