Hawks Come Up Short Against Beloit

Kissimmee, FL – After a scoring frenzy in their first game of the season, the Hawks were limited to just two runs in their second outing, dropping a 5-2 game to Beloit College on Thursday at Oren Brown Community Park in Kissimmee, Florida.

Junior outfielder Stephanie Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) recorded the team's only hit of the game and also had a run scored. Junior catcher Jacqueline Frank (Broad Channel, NY/Stella Maris) and senior outfielder Jennifer Damroth (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) each had runs batted in, with Frank hitting a SAC fly and Damroth reaching on an error by the pitcher.

Freshman Katy Sandt (Lake Crystal, MN/Wellcome Memorial) went all seven innings for Beloit, striking out eight batters and allowing two unearned runs. Senior Nicole Grilli (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) pitched all seven innings for the Hawks, giving up four earned runs and striking out two batters.

The Hawks are set to play Simpson College and Hiram College on Friday morning in the second day of the Rebel Spring Games.
