Christina Baker (Brooklyn, NY/St. Saviour) drove in four runs in the first game and senior outfielder
Jennifer Damroth (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) brought four runners home in the second game as the Hawks sweep the Lightning of Lehman College 13-0, 10-0 in a CUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Lehman College.
Starting on the mound for the Hawks in both games was senior
Nicole Grilli (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) who improves to 5-4 on the year, earning two victories today in 7.0 innings of action, giving up no runs, three hits and striking out eight batters.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Baker led the Hawks from the plate with three hits in four at bats, bringing in four runs and scoring two of her own. Junior catcher
Jacqueline Frank (Broad Channel, NY/Stella Maris) also had a solid game offensively, hitting 2-of-3 with two runs scored and a walk.
In second stanza,
Damroth hit 2-of-3 with four runs batted in, one run scored and a walk. Freshman
Lauren Stensland (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) was next in line, hitting 2-of-3 with two runs batted in and scored and also pitched two innings in relief for
Grilli, striking out two batters, allowing one hit and no runs.
The Hawks improve to 5-11 on the year and are now 4-0 in the CUNYAC. They will return to the diamond on Tuesday, when they host Saint Joseph's College for a non-conference doubleheader at Murphy Field on the campus of Fordham College, with the first pitching being tossed at 4:00 p.m.
