Frank Homers Twice as Hawks Tame Bulldogs 6-2 & 18-7

Brooklyn, NY – Senior catcher Jacqueline Frank (Broad Channel, NY/Stella Maris) made her return to the team on Friday after sitting out Wednesday's game and had one the best days at the plate of her career, going 5-for-10 with seven RBI's and two homeruns to lead the Hawks to 6-2 and 18-7 victories over the Brooklyn College Bulldogs on Friday night in a CUNY Athletic Conference doubleheader at Monsignor Crawford Field in Brooklyn, NY.

Following a three-and-out first inning, junior short stop Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) got things going for the Hawks after reaching on a lead-off walk. Sophomore third baseman Arielle Zieff (Staten Island, NY/Port Richmond) then moved her to third on a single. Junior outfielder Christina Baker (Brooklyn, NY/St. Saviour) then reached on a fielder's choice, which resulted in a play at the plate that caught McKenna making a break for home. Junior Stephanie Damroth (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) was next at the plate and singled which brought Zieff in for the Hawks first run of the day. The Hawks then added two more runs with RBI singles to close out the inning.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the top of the fifth, scoring two runs, but Frank secured the game with a solo homerun in the bottom half of the inning and followed this up with a two RBI single in the sixth inning. Frank finished the game 2-for-4 with three runs batted in and one run scored.

Damroth grabs her third win of the year after pitching seven innings, striking out six batters and giving up one earned run.

Moving down to the cleanup spot for game two, Frank added a two-run homer to her totals on the day to give Hunter an early 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs answered back in the third inning, after loading the bases, freshman Lisa Morro sent a shot over the fence, giving Brooklyn a 4-2 lead. However, not to be outdone, the Hawks scored 11 runs in the bottom half of the inning fueled by a two-run homer from Zieff, the first of her career. Hunter tacked on five more runs in the fourth inning to take an 18-4 lead.

Brooklyn sophomore Samantha Lombardi gave her team two more runs in the top of the third with a two-score homerun. Hunter gave up another run before closing out the game in five innings.
