Staten Island, NY – Senior outfielder
Stephanie Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) hit her first homerun of the season, sending a shot over the left field fence to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning in game two, but fielding errors in the bottom half of the inning would cost the Hawks the game as they drop both games of Saturday's doubleheader to Baruch College 5-1/4-1 at the CSI Softball Complex in Staten Island, NY
Senior catcher
Jacqueline Frank (Broad Channel, NY/Stella Maris) had the team's best performance from the plate in game one, going 2-for-2 with a run batted in. Junior
Stephanie Damroth (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) gives up her third decision on the year after striking out three batters and allowing two earned runs.
In the second game, not one Hawk picked up more than one hit, with
Alves going 1-for-3 with a run scored and batted in on her homer. Sophomore
Lauren Stensland (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) struck out one batter and allowed three earned runs in six inning to fall to 5-3 on the year.
The Hawks (10-6, 4-2 CUNYAC) won't have much time to ponder today's games as they are back in action on Sunday, traveling to Mahwah, NJ for a non-conference doubleheader with Ramapo College at Noon.
