Farmingdale, NY – Senior outfielder
Stephanie Alves (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis) hit 1-for-2 with a run scored in a tough 10-2 loss to the third seeded Farmingdale State University in the opening round of the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro Division Championship Tournament held on Thursday in Farmingdale, NY.
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the third, sophomore
Lauren Stensland (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) reached on a an error and later advanced to third on a single by Alves. Then with two outs, freshman second baseman
Molly Meehan (Pearl River, NY/Albertus Magnus) singled to right field, bringing
Stensland home and then two fielding errors by the Rams would allow
Alves to come across the plate as well to tie the game up at 2-2.
However, the Rams answered back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring four runs on three hits to take a 6-2 lead and never looked back as they coasted towards the 10-2 victory and advanced to the next round of the tournament.

Stephanie Damroth (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) got the start on the mound for the Hawks and pitched three innings allowing three earned runs before
Stensland came in relief for 1.2 innings, giving up four earned runs. Sophomore pitcher Hope Zino improved to 14-6 on the year with the five inning victory, allowing just two hits and striking out four batters for the Rams.
In 136 games in a Hawk uniform, Alves finishes her career tied for second all-time at Hunter with 106 singles, and is also ranked fifth with 137 hits, seventh in career runs with 100, seventh in stolen bases with 33 and ninth in doubles with 21.
