Box Score Game 2

New York, NY-- The Hawks received two more strong performances from their freshman pitching staff on Thursday, April 14, claiming both victories against St. Joseph College, 1-0 and 4-1.

In game one, Angel Iacovetti was once again impressive, engaging in a pitcher's duel with the Golden Eagles' Cassie Martinez throughout the first seven innings, with both starters matching zeroes.

The game entered into extra innings in the eighth with Iacovetti quickly recording three outs. After Martinez got the first two outs in the bottom of the inning, Arielle Zieff knocked in the only run of the game, scoring Megan McKenna who was on second base, due to the international tie-breaker rule.

Iacovetti recorded 15 strikeouts in the outing, while not giving up a single hit.

The Hawks received another strong pitching performance from their game two starter, Amanda Annicaro. This time, the Hawks did not wait until the late innings to get on the board, plating a run in the second inning on an RBI double off the bat of Molly Meehan.

Hunter would add to the lead in the fourth inning. After Meehan and KayTee Bauer walked, Crissette Maxwell reached on an error to load the bases with no outs. The next batter, McKenna brought one run home with a sacrifice fly to center. Julia Lipovac completed the inning's scoring with a two run single to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead.

St. Joseph would score their only run of the game in the seventh to pull within 4-1, but that was as close as they would get.

In 6.1 innings of work, Annicaro allowed just one unearned run while striking out three. Iacovetti closed out the victory with her second save of the season, pitching 2/3 of an inning, striking out one.

With the two wins, the Hawks improved to 10-8-2 on the season.
