New York, NY-- It was another successful weekend for the Hawks as they saw their win streak extend to nine, after taking both games of a double-header by scores of 2-1 and 6-3, against Manhattanville College on Sunday, April 20.

Hawks' starter, Angel Iacovetti followed up a week in which she was awarded CUNYAC Pitcher of the Week, with another impressive start in game one.

The Valiants struck first in the match-up, plating one run in the fourth against Iacovetti. The Hawks meanwhile, were held off the board until the sixth inning when Sophia Ponce came through with an RBI double to right center, scoring Megan McKenna.

From there both pitchers shut down the opposition through the seventh, sending the game into extra innings. The Hawks wasted no time taking the lead in the eighth, as Julia Lipovac came through with a one out, RBI single to center, scoring Molly Meehan, who was placed on second due to the international tie-breaker rule.

With the win, Iacovetti improved to 8-4 on the season. In her eight innings of work, she gave up one run on eight hits, while striking out nine.

In game two, the Hawks wasted no time getting on the board, immediately plating three in the first inning to take the early 3-0 lead. Josephine Estevez yielded the big blow in the frame, a two-run single up the middle.

The Hawks doubled their run production in the third, plating three more, with Christina Baker and Meehan collecting RBIs in the inning.

The Valiants would eventually get on the board in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three against Hawks' starter Amanda Annicaro, prompting Head Coach Ralph Moroni to call upon Iacovetti in relief. Once again, Iacovetti did not disappoint, shutting down the Valiant offense over the remaining 3.2 innings to give the Hawks their ninth consecutive victory.

Iacovetti earned the win to improve to 9-4 on the season. She struck out four in her 3.2 innings of work, without giving up a hit.

With the victory, the Hawks improved to 16-8-2 on the season. The team will return to action when they take on SUNY Old Westbury today, Thursday, April 21. The first game is set to kick off at 4pm.
