Madison, NJ-- The Hunter College softball team returned to action yesterday, Wednesday, April 27, falling 8-0 to Drew University in Madison, NJ.
Last week's CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, Angel Iacovetti, received the start for the Hawks in the contest. In her 4.2 innings of work, she gave up eight runs, five earned, on eight hits.
It was a tough day for the Hawks all around. On offense, the team managed just four hits, with Megan McKenna collecting two of them. Julia Lipovac and Arielle Zieff claimed the other two.
Meanwhile, on defense, the Hawks struggled as well, committing five errors, which would eventually lead to three unearned runs.
With the loss, Iacovetti dropped her record to 11-7. Despite the loss, Iacovetti's statistics remain impressive this season. In 25 appearances, 17 of which were starts, she has thrown 132.1 innings while giving up 52 runs, only 35 of which were earned, on 95 hits. Her ERA is a mere 1.85. Additionally, she has struck out 186, while holding opponents to a .191 batting average.
The Hawks are now 19-12-2 on the season.
