MADISON, NJ – The Hunter College men's fencing team suffered defeats against Lafayette College, Cornell University and host Drew College on Sunday, Feb. 12.
Senior
Justin Lokossou was an impressive 8-1 in epee bouts while sophomore
Nicholas Burney went 6-3 in the foil to represent the Hawks top performers.
Lafayette 22, Hunter 5
The Hawks won just five bouts in the match against Lafayette College with Burney registering a win in the foil, Lokossou winning a pair of bouts in the epee and
Alexis Chavez and
Isaac Orbe each winning one apiece in the sabre.
Cornell 23, Hunter 4
Despite being unable to win a bout in the epee, Hunter saw Lokossou and Burney each register a pair of wins in the epee and foil respectively.
Drew 19, Hunter 8
Drew captured the foil weapon 6-3 as Burney nabbed all three bout wins for the Hawks. Orbe was the only Hawk to win a bout in the sabre while Lokossou won three bouts and
Hunter Lackowitz won one as the Hawks were narrowly edged, 5-4 in the epee.
The Hawks are absent from competition until March 4 when they are slated to compete in the MACFA Championships at Drew University.
