BOXSCORE - Game Two

GALLOWAY, NJ - The Hunter College softball team dropped a pair of games against Richard Stockton this afternoon as the Ospreys managed to rally twice, defeating the Hawks by scores of 6-1 and 4-3.

Hunter (3-5) saw its offense severely limited all day, as the Hawks managed just two hits in the first game and four in the second while Richard Stockton (11-1) clubbed seven in the first and six in the second game to steal a pair of victories this afternoon.

In game one, Julia Lipovac provided the sole run of the contest as she drilled a one-out solo home run in the top of the fourth to put the Hawks up 1-0.

The lead was short-lived however as Richard Stockton scored two runs in the bottom half of the frame to push ahead, 2-1.

The Ospreys added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a RBI single and 3-RBI home run to take the 6-1 victory.

Angel Iacovetti suffered the loss in six innings after allowing four earned runs on seven hits.

In game two, the Hawks seemed poised for a victory after leading 3-0 for the first five innings but the Ospreys scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to steal a 4-3 victory.

The Hawks were patient at the plate atop the first inning and it paid dividends as Crissette Maxwell, Molly Meehan and Lipovac each drew walks to load the bases with no outs. Following a strikeout, back to back RBI-singles to the pitcher from Kristen McGoldrick and Sophia Ponce put the Hawks up 2-0. A RBI-groundout from Meghan O'Shea added another Hawk to close out the frame with Hunter leading the Ospreys, 3-0.

After five scoreless innings, the Ospreys broke the silence, rattling off four runs in the bottom of the sixth as a bases loaded triple plated three runs before a sac-fly RBI accounted for the fourth and final run, propelling Richard Stockton past Hunter, 4-3.

Iacovetti (2-3) took the loss for the Hawks, working three innings of relief after allowing four runs--two earned on three hits.

The Hawks will look to rebound tomorrow when they take on Mount Saint Mary in a doubleheader slated to start at 3pm. Hunter opens its home schedule this Friday as it hosts York College at Randall's Island Field #12 at 3pm.
