Stevens Tech Stun Hawks in Twin Bill

BOXSCORE - Game One
BOXSCORE - Game Two

HOBOKEN, NJ -
The Hunter College softball team failed to hang on to an early lead in game one and then couldn't produce any offense in game two as the Stevens Tech Ducks got past the Hawks, 11-8 and 8-0 in today's Twin Bill.

Hunter drops to 11-15 overall while Stevens improves to 12-14 with the sweep.

Crissette Maxwell finished game one 3-for-5 with a team-high three RBI to lead the Hawks.

Despite six Duck errors and an early 6-4 lead, Hunter could not hang on for the win.  A six-run first inning was combatted by the Ducks who answered with four in the bottom of the stanza.

The Hawks added a run in the second as another Duck error enabled Sophia Ponce--who reached on an error herself, to score, making it a 7-4 game. But again, the Ducks answered the call, plating two runs as one runner stole home and another delivered a two-out RBI double to pull within one.

The Ducks managed to add five runs on as many hits in the home half of the fourth to make it an 11-7 affair.

Hunter would tally just one more run, doing so atop the fifth on Maxwell's RBI double to account for the game one final, 11-8.

Angel Iacovetti (6-7) took the loss in six innings.

The Hawks wouldn't fair much better in game two as Stevens shut the squad out, 6-0.

Meghan O'Shea represented a bright spot in the boxscore as the freshman finished a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate.

Stevens followed a two-run third inning up by plating five runs in the fourth to go ahead, 7-0. The Ducks added one more run in the bottom of the sixth to take the 8-0 victory in six frames.

Lauren Stensland (1-4) suffered the loss in three innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits.

Hunter will look to bounce back on Thursday as the Hawks travel to Ramapo for a doubleheader on Thursday, April 12 at 3pm.
