Allentown, P.A. - The men's basketball team dropped their 2013-14 season opener in the first round of the Scotty Wood Tournment to Gwynedd Mercy, 73-76. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 0-1 while the Griffins improve to 1-0,

THe Hawks were led by Frankie Drayton who scored a game-high of 29 points, to go along with four steals and two assists.  Sophomore Brian Kruger chipped in with 17 points while Jerrell Antley added nine.

Hunter trailed 42-31 at halftime to the Griffins, but had a 7-0 run with under five minutes to play to turn a 12-point Griffin lead into a 65-60 contest. Two Frankie Drayton free throws put the Hawks down but a layup from Gwynedd Mercy in the final minutes of the game gave them the edge they needed to hand the Hawks their first loss of the season.

The Hawks are back in action on Saturday, November 16th when they play in the consolation round of the tournament.
