Randall's Island, NY – Hunter's softball team lost a double-header match-up against Baruch College 2-6 in game one and 0-4 in game two on Saturday, April 13th at Randall's Island.
Both Molly Meehan and Holly Iseneberg (check sprlling) each had two hits to lead the Hawks against Baruch, but the Bearcats scored four runs in the fifth inning to defeat Hunter in game one, 6-2.
Sophia Ponce hit an RBI single to right field in the fourth inning scoring Molly Meehan as Hunter tied the game at 1-1. In the next inning, Baruch exploded for four runs on five hits springing ahead 5-1. Hunter's Angel Iacovetti struck out three batters in five innings of work before Erika Colangelo closed the game.
Trailing 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Hunter scored their final run on a bases loaded walk. Julia Lipovac crossed home plate cutting the Baruch lead to 6-2. The Bearcats went on to win the first game behind six runs and eight hits.
In the later game, Baruch scored two runs in the fourth and seventh innings while shutting out Hunter for a 4-0 victory. The Hawks only had two hits throughout the game. Nicole Fillisetti singled to left field in the sixth inning and Sophia Ponce hit a single to right field in the seventh inning.
Hunter's Amanda Annicaro gave up four hits and two runs, while Sara Beck finished the game striking out two batters, allowing five hits, and two runs scored.
The Hawks drop to an overall record of 6-20 with a 2-4 CUNYAC conference record. Hunter will play Elmira College on April 16th at Randall's Island at 3:00 p.m. in a doubleheader match-up in their next game.
