Meehan’s Homer Propels Hawks Over Stevens Institute

Randall's Island, NY - Hunter's Molly Meehan hit a two-run homerun in game two as the Hawks won 10-1 splitting their double-header series with Stevens Institute on Tuesday, April 23rd at Randall's Island.
 
The Hawks recorded 18 hits in the second game of the double-header led by Molly Meehan's three hits and three RBIs. Brianna Kresback, Meghan O'Shea, and Holly Isenberg also had three hits apiece as the Hawks cruised to a 10-1 victory.
 
Pitcher Erika Colangelo struck out two batters while only surrendering five hits and one earned run. Stevens scored their only run of the game in the fourth inning. Hunter scored two runs in the first inning, two in the third inning, and sealed the victory with six runs in the fifth inning.
 
Molly Meehan hit her first homerun of the season sparking the Hawks rally. Briana Lombardo added two RBIs while five other Hawks added one RBI each.
 
In the earlier game, Stevens defeated Hunter 10-2 behind 12 hits while the Hawks only had four hits. Hunter's Angel Iacovetti suffered the loss allowing six hits and seven runs. She added a strikeout while relief pitcher Sara Beck closed out the game. Beck also allowed six hits with three earned runs.
 
Kristen McGoldrick recorded a double base hit, while Meghan O'Shea, Sophia Ponce, and Brianna Kresback added singles of their own.  The Hawks scored their only runs in the first inning with Meghan O'Shea scoring on an error by the Stevens' infield, then on a bases loaded walk Sophia Ponce crossed home plate.
 
Stevens scored two runs in the first inning, three runs in the second inning, two in the third, and three in the fourth inning to win the game.
 
Hunter improves to 9-25 overall with four games left in their regular season. The Hawks will travel to play Lehman College on April 24th at 4:00 p.m. in their next game.
