Meghan O'Shea recorded five RBIs in a 7-0 quarterfinals victory for the Hawks over John Jay on Wednesday May 1
st at Randall's Island.
The Hawks recorded 13 hits with two runs in the first inning and five runs in the fourth inning advancing to the CUNYAC semifinals on Friday against Baruch College. Hunter's pitcher Angelica Iacovetti had a wonderful outing; striking out four batters, allowing only three hits, and surrendering no runs.
Offensively
Meghan O'Shea led the Hawks with a sacrifice fly-ball to right field in the first inning that scored both
Molly Meehan and Brianna Kresback. In the fourth inning, she hit a single to right field that brought home three Hawks extending Hunter's advantage to 5-0. The Hawks' next batter,
Sophia Ponce continued the onslaught with a two-run homer to center field scoring O'Shea.
Hunter's Brianna Kresback had three hits and scored two runs along with
Molly Meehan.
Julia Lipovac recorded a double base hit as well as a stolen base against the Bloodhounds. Lipovac also assisted on five defensive plays and
Sophia Ponce finished with 10 putouts.
The Hawks improve to 13-26 with the quarterfinals win over John Jay. Hunter advances to play Baruch in the CUNYAC semifinals on Friday May 3
