BOX SCORE AMHERST, MA – The Hunter men's basketball team defeated Johnson State College 71-55 in the Consolation game at the 2014 Amherst College Tournament. The Hawks improve to 3-2 on the season as they are set to begin conference play next week.
The Hawks jumped all over Johnson State early in the first half opening an eight-point lead within the first five minutes of the game. The defensive pressure put on by the Hawks allowed Johnson State into making only eight field goals in the first half, holding them to 32% from the field.
"This was a great bounce back win after a tough loss last night," said coach
Shay Berry. "With such a quick turnaround, I'm really proud of my guys."
Senior and All-Tournament Team selection,
Eric Kippins paced the Hawks with 13 points and six rebounds, led the Hawks on the offensive end.
Robert Borusiewicz had 14 points while
Brian Kruger chipped in with 11 points.
The Hawks return to action Tuesday November 25 when they take on CUNYAC foe College of Staten Island. Game-time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
