BOX SCORE 2 Montclair, NJ - The Hunter Hawks softball team lost both games of a double-header to #3 Montclair State Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks fell 4-0 in the first game and 1-0 in the second game.
In game 1, the Hawks managed to get only two hits against Red Hawks starter Alex Hill.
Sierra Noud (0-1) started the game for Hunter and went 6 innings while giving up four runs on 10 hits and striking out four Red Hawks.
Meghan O'Shea and
Taylor Crofts got the only hits for Hunter; each went 1-for-3.
In game 2, the Hawks were once again shut down by the Red Hawks starting pitcher, this time it was a combined effort. Alison Cullen started for the Red Hawks going 4.2 innings and giving up only two hits. Hill returned to pitch the final 2.2 innings to earn the save.
Erika Colangelo (1-2) was the hard luck losing pitcher for Hunter, going 6 strong innings while scattering seven hits. The only run she surrendered was on a solo homerun by Dana Amato. Crofts and O'Shea once again provided the only hits for Hunter; Crofts finished the game 1-for-3 and O'Shea went 1-for-2 with a walk.
The Hawks now sit at 1-4 on the young season and look to bounce back on Thursday when they take on Lehman College at Randall's Island.
