Hawks Drop Double-Header Against Brooklyn College

Brooklyn, NY – The Hunter softball team lost a double-header on Wednesday afternoon to Brooklyn College. The Bulldogs won game one 3-1 and game two 9-1.
 
In game one, starting pitcher Sara Beck pitched well enough to win but she gave up three runs in 7 innings, giving up five hits and five strikeouts.
 
Beck (4-4) put down the Bulldogs in order in the 1st and 2nd inning. In the 3rd leadoff hitter Allison Donovan singled and would later come around to score on a sacrifice bunt by Geena Bell to make the score 1-0. In the 4th inning Stephanie Caravello drove home two runs with a double into the leftfield gap.
 
The Hawks tried to mount a 7th inning rally to get the win. With 2 outs, Victoria Slavik tripled to right field and would come around to score on a Briana Lombardo single. Kristen McGoldrick grounded out to third to end the game.
 
In game two the Hawks got another solid pitching performance. Erika Colangelo was stellar through her first 5 innings.
 
The game was scoreless going into the 5th inning but the Bulldogs pushed home a run on a single by Samantha Rodriguez. The Hawks would tie it 1-1 in the bottom half of the inning on a single by Briana Kresback.
 
In the 6th inning the Bulldogs pushed across eight runs to take a 9-1 lead to secure the victory.
 
Colangelo (3-6) pitched 5.2 innings giving up 7 earned runs on 11 hits.
 
The Hawks have dropped four in a row and now sit at 9-12 overall and 6-4 in CUNYAC play. They return to action Thursday when they travel to Bronxville, NY to take on College of Mount Saint Vincent, first game is scheduled to start at 3:30pm.
