Softball Falls In Double-Header To Stevens

Hoboken, NJ – The Hunter softball team lost both games of a double-header to Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Ducks defeated the Hawks 5-1 in game one and 10-2 in game two.
 
In game one, Hawks starter Sara Beck pitched all 6 innings surrendering five runs on 13 hits. Beck allowed base runners on in every inning and allowed runners to advance to scoring position in every inning but the 4th.
 
The Ducks struck first in the 2nd inning scoring two runs. The first run was scored on an RBI single by Danielle DeFeo. The next batter singled home DeFeo and Noelle Mulligan to make the score 3-0.
 
The Hawks got one run back in the 4th. Briana Kresback led off the inning with a double down the right field line, she would advance to third on a SAC bunt by Julia Lipovac and she'd come around to score on a wild pitch.
 
In the 6th, the Ducks would tack on two more runs on an RBI single and an RBI double.
 
In game two, the Hawks would get on the board early in the first inning thanks to Taylor Crofts. Crofts led off the game reaching on an infield error and she would reach second-base on a single by Kresback. Both runners would move into scoring position thanks to another SAC bunt by Lipovac and Crofts would score on a single by Meghan O'Shea.
 
In the bottom of the inning the Ducks would explode for five runs off of starting pitcher Sierra Noud. Noud would only last 0.1 innings before being relieved by Erika Colangelo. In the 2nd inning the Ducks would tack on four more runs to take a 9-1 lead.
 
In the 5th inning the Hawks would get one run back thanks to back-to-back singles by Crofts and Kresback. Crofts would be forced out at third on a fielders choice hit by Lipovac but Kresback would score on an RBI single by O'Shea to cut the Ducks lead to 9-2.
 
The Ducks would score another run in the bottom of the 5th on an RBI double.
 
The losses drop the Hawks to 9-18. They return to action Wednesday afternoon when they travel to New Jersey to take on Ramapo College. The first game of the double-header is scheduled to start at 3pm
