Hawks Roll Past Baruch

Brooklyn, NY – The Hunter Hawks took their first step toward a CUNY Championship by defeating Baruch College 10-0 in a 1st Round match up played at Brooklyn College.
 
The Hawks took a 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st thanks to CUNYAC Rookie of the Year Taylor Crofts. Crofts led off the inning with a single, she advanced to third on a ground out and passed ball. She would score on an RBI groundout by CUNYAC 2nd Team All-Star Meghan O'Shea.
 
The Hawks would explode in the 3rd inning scoring six runs on five hits. Victoria Slavik would drive in two runs with a double to make it 3-0 Hawks. Julia Lipovac would single home CUNYAC 1st Team All-Star Briana Kresback to make it 4-0. Slavik would score on an RBI single by Aleta Terrill. Terrill and Lipovac would both score to make it 7-0 on a single by Nicole Fillisetti.
 
In the 4th Crofts would leadoff with a single and come around and score on an RBI triple by Kresback to make it 8-0. Kresback would score on a groundout. Lipovac would score to make it 10-0 thanks to another triple by Terrill.
 
Hawks starter and CUNYAC 2nd Team All-Star Sara Beck was dominant in her four innings of work. Beck surrendered only two hits while striking out six Bearcats.
 
The Hawks move on to play #2 seed Brooklyn College in the Quarterfinals Friday afternoon at 1pm. The game will be played at Queens College.
