Hawks Fall To CSI In CUNYAC Championship

BOX SCORE Flushing, NY - The Hunter Hawks fell 5-1 to CSI in the 2014 CUNYAC Championship.

The Hawks opened up the scoring in the 1st inning thanks to an RBI single by Victoria Slavik to make it 1-0 Hawks.

In the 2nd the Hawks nearly put a rally together with one out. Briana Lombardo would reach on an infield hit and advance to 2nd on a wild pitch. She would be thrown out at home when Taylor Crofts hit it right at the first baseman, for the second out. Briana Kresback would fly out to right field to end the threat keeping the score 1-0.

The Dolphins took the lead in the 3rd inning with three consecutive singles to start the inning. Starting pitcher Jackie Cautela would single home Danielle Locke. Brittney Smith would hit a safety squeeze allowing Alyssa Setteducato to score making it 2-1 Dolphins. Stephanie Solari would groundout allowing Setteducato to score to make it 3-1.

The Dolphins took advantage of sloppy play in the 4th inning scoring two runs on two hits thanks to two Hawk errors to take a 5-1 lead.

Dolphins' starter Cautela kept the Hawks in check after allowing a 1st inning run. She went the distance allowing six hits and surrendering one run.

Slavik was one of the hitting stars for the Hawks going 7-for-13 with three runs scored and 3RBI during championship weekend.

The Hawks finish the season with a 15-23 record.
