New York, NY - On Friday evening, November 6, the men's fencing team squared off against Columbia University in a dual meet. The Purple and Gold won eight bouts while falling in 19 of them to suffer their first loss of the season.
Newcomer
Joseph Brajdic was the lone athlete to win two bouts in Sabre after defeating two of the Lions opponents. At the conclusion of sabre, the Hawks found themselves down 7-2.
Indiana Kuffer,
Alkaya Massaly and
Jaimee-Ian Rodriguez were unable to score a win in foil and slipped into a 16-2 deficit with only one weapon remaining.
Freshman
Julien Dieck successfully won all three bouts while teammates
James Ferraiolo took two and
Anthony Musto capping the final win to make it a 6-3 victory in epee.
Overall the Hawks fell by a score of 19-8. The fencing team returns to action tomorrow when they compete in the Drew Fall Classic.
