BOX SCORE 2 FARMINGDALE, NY - The Hunter softball team concluded their 2015 regular season on Wednesday afternoon, splitting a doubleheader matchup against Farmingdale State. The Hawks took game one 7-6 and then lost game two by a score of 5-2.
In game one, the Hawks came back from a 6-0 defect after 2 innings to win the game 7-6, outscoring the Rams 7-0 over the last four innings.
After a rocky start, Hawks starting pitcher
Erika Colangelo settled down over the final five innings.
The offense broke out for the Hawks in the 4th inning when they scored four runs.
Victoria Slavik started it off with a two run single, then Stephanie Abolt's RBI groundout made it 6-3.
Briana Monaco capped off the scoring for the Hawks in the 4th, with an RBI single, that scored Slavik.
The Hawks took the lead in the 6th inning when they would score three runs, with the game winning run scoring on an RBI fielders choice by
Taylor Crofts.
In game two the Hawks offense was held in check, only scoring two runs while scratching out only eight hits.
Slavik roped an RBI double in the 1st inning to get the Hawks an early lead. Their only other runs was unearned, when
Briana Kresback scored from third base after an error by Farmingdale's second baseman.
The Hawks return to action in the CUNYAC Tournament which starts Friday May 1, with the Hawks taking on Brooklyn College at 2pm.
