BOX SCORE 2 BRONX, NY - The Hunter softball team continued their hot start to the season extending their winning streak to seven games with a doubleheader sweep of Lehman College on Monday afternoon. The Hawks won game one 17-1 and game two 13-0 to improve to 9-1 overall and 6-0 in CUNYAC play.
In game one, the Hawks jumped out early in the 1st inning scoring 11 runs to take control of the game.
Victoria Slavik continued her hot start to the season knocking in two more runs and scoring two more.
Briana Monaco drove in three runs in the inning as each batter that came to the plate in the top of the 1st for the Hawks scored a run.,
The Hawks would score six more runs in the top of the 3rd inning the first two on bases loaded walks by
Stevie Rae Micheli and
Taylor Crofts.
Kristen McGoldrick would end the scoring as she smacked a grand slam to give the Hawks a 17-0 lead.
Sara Beck started for the Hawks, going five innings while allowing two hits and one run while striking out eight Lightning batters.
In game two, the Hawks once again started the scoring in the top of the 1st inning scoring four runs, on four RBI doubles by
Meghan O'Shea,
Amy Pirozek, Analease McClellan and Micheli. In the 2nd inning the Hawks would add seven more runs, keyed by
Briana Kresback's 2RBis on a double and a single. Micheli would add the final two runs on a single that scored
Aleta Terrill and O'Shea making it 13-0.
Erika Colangelo went the distance for the Hawks going five innings, giving up only four hits while shutting out the Lightning, including a season-high eight strikeouts.

Briana Kresback (4-for-7, 3R, 2RBI), Stephanie Abolt (2-for-2, 2R, 2RBI),

The Hawks are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday April 8 when they will host College of Mount Saint Vincent.
