BOX SCORE STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Hunter Hawks softball team bounced back in game three of the CUNYAC/Pepsi Tournament, defeating John Jay College 12-1, to stay alive and earn a trip to day two. The Hawks will take on either Brooklyn College or College of Staten Island tomorrow at 12pm.
After being one-hit in game one, the Hawks bats awoke in the 1st inning as they plated four runs. Back-to-back RBIs by
Victoria Slavik and
Christine Kline gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead. Stephanie Abolt would smack a two-run single to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead after one inning.
The Bloodhounds would scratch one run across in the 3rd inning cutting the Hawks lead to 4-1.
The Hawks offense would erupt in the bottom of the 4th, as they scored eight runs to put the game away.
CUNYAC Player of the Year
Taylor Crofts plated two Hawks with a triple to right center, followed by an RBI groundout by Slavik, to make it 7-1. Abolt would get an RBI on an dropped infield fly and then
Annalise McClellan drove in two more with a single to right field.
Kristen McGoldrick and
Briana Kresback each smacked RBI singles into left field giving the Hawks a 12-1 lead.

Sara Beck pitched 5 solid innings, giving up only three hits and one run.
