STATEN ISLAND, NY - The Hunter Hawks softball team advanced to the CUNYAC Championship with a 3-1 victory over Brooklyn College in game five of the CUNYAC Tournament.

The Hawks will face College of Staten Island, needing two victories over the Dolphins to claim the CUNYAC title.

Sara Beck and Erika Colangelo combined to hold the Bulldogs to one run and seven hits. Beck was outstanding going 5.2 innings and striking out four.

The Hawks finally solved Bulldogs starting pitcher Kayla Hill in the 5th inning. Victoria Slavik started the scoring for the Hawks as she doubled home Briana Kresback. Slavik would come around to score on an error by the Brooklyn shortstop giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead. Nicole Fillisetti tacked on one more with an RBI single which scored Abolt.

The Bulldogs scratched one run across in the top of the 6th but Colangelo came in, in relief to shut the game down, earning her second save of the season.
