BROOKLYN, NY - The Hunter Hawks softball team came from behind twice, to earn an 8-6 victory over Brooklyn College a 1st Round matchup in the 2015 ECAC Metro/Upstate Championships on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hawks fell behind 2-0 in the top of the 1st inning on an RBI triple by Samantha Rodriguez and an RBI single by Chrissy Heyer.

In the bottom of the 3rd, the Hawks would plate four runs to take a 4-2 lead. Briana Kresback and Victoria Slavik each had two-run hits to left field, Kresback a single and Slavik a double.

Hawks starting pitcher Erika Colangelo settled down after giving up two runs in the 1st but she would not make it out of the 5th inning when the Bulldogs would take a 6-4 lead. Rodriguez would smack an RBI double and then two batters later, Kristina Bermudez hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game 4-4. Breanna Maresca would cap off the four run inning with a two run triple to make it 6-4 Bulldogs.

Meghan O'Shea would get one run back for the Hawks in the bottom of the 5th inning, with an RBI single to left field.

In the 6th inning, the Hawks took advantage of poor Bulldog defense, scoring the game tying and game winning runs on a throwing and fielding error by the Bulldogs shortstop, giving the Hawks an 8-6 lead.

Sara Beck pitched the final 2.2 innings to earn her 8th win of the season. She allowed only one hit and no runs while striking out one batter.

Kresback moved down in the batting order, to the no. 3 slot and responded going 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 3RBI. Slavik also went 2-for-4 with 2RBI.

The Hawks move on to the 2nd Round of the ECAC Metro/Upstate Championship, where they will take on no. 1 seed and hosts, Stevens Tech on Saturday at 10am. The game is being played at Weehawken Waterfront Park, directions to the field are located here.
