Swimming Drops Meet at Adelphi, 54-42

Rubiano, Pero and Canning Earn Wins

The Hawks are now 8-2 this season but remain undefeated in conference play.
FULL RESULTS Garden City, NY - Hunter College fell in a tightly contested non-conference match at Adelphi University on Tuesday night, dropping the meet with a score of 54-42. The loss is only the second for the Hawks this season, dropping them to 8-2 on the season.

Hunter took first-place in the 200 yard medley relay, as Madeline Hew, Carla Canning, Alexandra Rubiano and Lindsey Pero posted a time of 1:58.60 to get the win.

Rubiano followed that up with an individual victory, placing first in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:21.10. The time was a season high for Rubiano and places her at the top of the CUNYAC's top season performances.

Pero earned a win in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.22 to beat her previous season high.

Canning ended the meet with another individual win for the Hawks, placing first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.65.

"The rest of the races were very tight," said co-head coach Scott Bintner. "The third-place position was tightly contested all evening. We stepped up against another DII team and fared very well against some tough competition. Many of our women are posting fast times at a point in the season where it can be difficult."

Hunter will return to action on Friday, Jan. 15 when they host Western Connecticut State at 6:30 p.m.
