FULL RESULTS
Brooklyn, NY - Hunter College women's swimming defeated Brooklyn College on Tuesday evening with a score of 132-66 to win their sixth-straight CUNYAC meet. The Hawks are now 10-2 overall and 6-0 in the conference. The win also clinches the regular season title for the Purple and Gold; the program's 11th overall. Additionally, the victory also marks the 14th CUNYAC win in a row which makes it the second longest in history. The last conference loss was to Baruch back in January 2014.
The Hawks started the night with a win in the 200 yard medley relay as
Kelly Xue,
Carla Canning,
Emily DiPaola and
Alexandra Rubiano crossed the finish line with a time of 2:06.45.
Hunter then swept the top-three spots in the 1,650 yard freestyle with
Irene Collins,
Amanda Iken and
Christina Valente earning first, second and third-place finishes, respectively.
Lindsey Pero placed first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:12.67 for her first performance in the event this season.
Christina Fedorov followed that up by placing first in the 50 yard freestyle, while
Madeline Hew took first in the 200 yard IM and recorded a new personal best time of 2:29.07.
Alexandra Rubiano, Pero, Xue and
Jessica Lou each finished off the meet with individual first-place finishes to help Hunter take the meet, 132-66.
"Last night was all about preparing us for the conference championship," stated co-head coach Scott Bintner. "We wanted to get in a few swims to better our entry times, as we look ahead to the CUNY and Mets conference meets."The Hawks will return to action on Friday, Jan. 22 when they host Manhattan College at 6:30 p.m.
