New York, NY - Hunter College men's fencing fell in a close match to Army on Friday with a score of 13-14 at the 2016 Hunter Homecoming.
The Hawks are now 5-13 this season after previously beating Army earlier this year.
The Hawks started out well, getting a win in the sabre bout with a score of 7-2.
Andrew Wang,
Zaheer Booth and
Gabriel Quinones earned three wins to start it off before
Hector Moran and Ben Sanitis subbed in to add two more for the Hawks.
In the epee bout the Purple and Gold fell in a competitive match as
James Ferraiolo,
Aaron Buachie and Bernie Slawomirski all recorded wins for the Hawks but were eventually defeated, 5-4.
Hunter kicked off the foil bout with a win from
Michael Khodorkovsky, but then struggled to score as
Kenneth Hoe was the only other Hawk to notch a victory. Hunter fell 7-2 to lose the match 13-14.
The team returns to action on January 21 when they travel to the Army Invitational.
