BOX SCORE 2 Myrtle Beach, SC – The softball team suffered two losses today in the second consecutive double header of the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic Trip. The Hawks dropped a 4-1 decision to Penn State Altoona, a team they beat 3-1 the day prior, and then fell 6-1 against Lycoming College.

Despite five hits, the Purple and Gold were unable to overcome a first inning, 1-0 deficit as they managed just one run while allowing four. Brianna Monaco drove in the only run of the afternoon which was scored by teammate Stefanie Abolt. In the circle, Danielle Zurek went the distance, allowed nine hits and four earned runs despite fanning seven batters.
Penn State Altoona got to work quickly and manufactured a run in the top of the first and scored another two in the second despite having bases loaded with one out. The Purple and Gold worked out of a jam and ended the threat with a double play.
In the bottom of the fourth, Abolt walked and Monaco followed with a two-out RBI double to get her team on the scoreboard. Hunter had runners on first and second in both the fifth and seventh innings but were unable to advance them across the plate.

The game was evenly played through three and a half innings until the Hawks broke the silence with a run, but a big top of the fifth for the visitors proved enough to hold on through the end of the game as Hunter was served with a 6-1 loss.
Nicole Fillisetti went 2-2 on the day and accounted for half of the team's his. The Hawks drew four walks on the day while Erika Colangelo suffered the loss in the circle, hurling 4.2 innings and giving up six runs on six hits while striking out two. Teammate Sarah Beck closed the final 2.1 innings and struck out one while not giving up a single hit.
In the bottom of the fourth, Monaco walked and advanced to second on a passed ball. She moved to third on a Fillisetti single to right field and then scored on a wild pitch. They left two runners on base but put up one run on the scoreboard.
In the fifth, after evening the score at 1-1, the Hawks found themselves in a bases loaded jam. A three-run, two out single by Secord cleared the bases to make it a 4-1 affair. A back-to-back single and double by Lycoming resulted in two more runs for the visiting team to set the scoreboard at 6-1. Beck came in for the final out and got Kunes to fly out to Emily Ruiz to stop the bleeding.
With two innings left to play, the Hawks went down in batting order in both innings and closed the books on the day with a 6-1 loss.

The Hawks look to get back on track tomorrow as they continue their stretch in Myrtle Beach, SC when they face Mount Aloysius College at 11:30am followed by St. Joseph's of Long Island at 1:30pm.
